Tandem Trailer

A tandem trailer is a term used for any trailer that is being pulled by some sort of machine. The trailer is used to carry loads. The term is also used in farming and trucking. The easiest way to think of it is to imagine a trailer that is stuck to the back of a push bike.

Advice for Buyers

The first thing you must do is determine what you need. For instance, if you need to buy a trailer for a bike, you have to consider how the trailer will be used.

If kids will be riding on it, make sure that it is spacious and safe enough. If the trailer is for carrying items, look for one with a hydraulic tilt. This will make it easier to carry objects.

The costs of these trailers will vary. Prepare a budget before you start. Have a look at some online sites so you can get an idea of how much these trailers cost.

Make sure you get a trailer that fits your needs. Do not buy a trailer with extra features you do not need. However, the trailer must be able to do what you want. There is no point buying a cheap tandem trailer if it cannot do what you want.

Tandem Axle Trailers

Trailers can be single or tandem axle. These trailers have many features, so you need to study each one. There are many advantages to using a tandem axle trailer though; these include superior tracking and weight bearing. You can find several of these models online.

How to Remove the Trailer Springs

Taking out the springs from tandem axle is similar to a single axle.

Step 1

Jack the trailer up. Make sure it is set onto the jack stands securely.

Step 2

Take off the wheels with a breaker bar or lug wrench. Place the jack below one of the axles.

Step 3

Take off the U-bolts that keep the axle on the axle spring the jack is supporting.

Step 4

Slowly and carefully lower the axle away from the spring. Place it on other jacks.

Step 5

Place the jack on the second axle. Take off the U-bolt. Lower and support it in the manner you did earlier. Note: U-bolts are never reused.

Step 6

Take off the bolts that keep the spring in place. Begin at the front or back. Leave those in the middle in place until all the other bolts are taken out. If you are having trouble removing the bolts, apply a bit of heat on them.

Step 7

Take off all four bolts at the rear and front springs. Pull down the springs; they will go down the hangers a bit.

Step 8

Take off the bolts on the equalizer in the center. Pull out all the springs from the equalizer.

A tandem trailer can be used in many ways, and buying the right type can be difficult unless you know the facts. By taking into account the factors mentioned earlier, you will be able to buy the right unit.
